Research and planning

My research and planning practice spans more than two decades of strategic urban projects on growth, shrinkage, and transformation across the Nordic region. The work takes the form of urban studies, competitions, exhibitions, publications, teaching, and artistic research.

A long thread runs through Sweden's post-industrial landscapes. It starts with the EU-awarded Shrinking Cities project and 100 Ideas for Urban Development, and continues in Bergslagen, Grängesberg, Torsby A to Ö, and För allmänt bruk in Norrahammar. In Kiruna, Polar Conditions and the Iron Trails mapping traced the corridor between Kiruna and Narvik. Closer to Stockholm, Bromma Green, Nacka Öar, Malmarna, and Svedmyra & Tallkrogen test densification in the inner suburbs. Alongside these are more discursive works in Ringen, a Stadstriennal i Göteborg, and my work for the organisation Europan.
