Forsbacka Picnic (2007)
Temporary interventions
Location: Forsbacka
Team: Anders Johansson, Erik Wingquist
Forsbacka Picnic was a site-specific, temporary exhibition that tested how the Forsbacka area could be used and how its future might be shaped. Over the summer the landscape was activated through tactile and sound-based installations designed to invite social interaction. A monumental picnic table and a 20-metre outdoor beanbag formed the project's central gathering points. Visitors moved around the grounds via a bike-sharing programme, while a series of short and long-term interventions, including a pétanque court, kept the place alive.
The project took place at Forsbacka Bruk, one of Sweden's most atmospheric industrial heritage sites. The area sits where Lake Storsjön meets the Gävleån River, with a history reaching back to 1651.
