100:- Arkitektur is a conceptual project by Testbedstudio that explores what low-cost urban interventions can do when set against the routines of conventional planning and architecture. Using a budget of 100 SEK as a strategic constraint, the project asks how small interventions can act as catalysts for democratic city-building and unpredictable urban events.
A "shopping list" sets the cost of small actions next to massive infrastructure projects, comparing for instance a 100 SEK wooden plank bridge with the 1.5 billion SEK Ă…rstabron, to highlight the very different price segments inside a city.
By presenting 100 Ideas for 100:-, the project translates complex urban design questions into tangible public actions like communal planting, shared transport, and social furniture, with the ambition of making architecture an accessible and participatory topic for everyone living there.
The work also reflects on the architect's shifting role in a time when power has moved from the state to the market. It suggests that a "strategic retreat" into low-cost, high-impact interventions can be a way to reclaim the city-building process for the public.
