Nordic Built Challenge – Fittja (2013)
Nordic Built Challenge – Fittja (2013) was the Swedish edition of a Nordic, multidisciplinary design competition initiated by Nordic Innovation. The competition asked teams to propose sustainable, viable, and scalable refurbishment concepts—not prototypes for a single building, but approaches that could be repeated across similar housing stock. In Fittja, the case centred on upgrading Million Programme-era rental housing owned by AB Botkyrkabyggen, with a strong emphasis on balancing environmental performance with social and economic sustainability for residents.
My role was to co-organise the jury work: structuring the assessment process, coordinating jury documentation and reviewsThe competition outcome informed the subsequent pilot renovation concept developed by NCC together with Spridd (completed as a pilot by 2016).
