Forsbacka Picnic was a site-specific, temporary exhibition that tested how the Forsbacka area could be use and how its future might be shaped. Over the summer, the landscape was activated through tactile and sound-based installations designed to invite social interaction. A monumental picnic table and a 20-meter outdoor beanbag formed the project’s central gathering points. Visitors moved across the grounds via a bike-sharing program, while a series of short- and long-term interventions, including a boules court.
The project took place at Forsbacka Bruk, one of Sweden’s most atmospheric industrial heritage sites. Located where Lake Storsjön meets the Gävleån River, the area’s history reaches back to 1651.
